China Musics Ethnographic Film Festival (CMEFF)

Heritage·Resonance·Becoming

The 4th Chinese Musics Ethnographic Film Festival (CMEFF) will be held in Shanghai from July 16–20. Hosted by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the festival will collaborate with multiple screening venues across the city.

This year’s screening features 6 specially invited films, covering ethnographic records, electronic music experiments, body dance practices and folk belief video archives, presenting the diverse paths of music video creation in the current context.

This year’s theme “Heritage · Resonance · Becoming” runs through the entire screening. Images carry memories, and they also generate current meanings through repeated revisits and viewings. This will be a deep practice on national memory, cultural resonance and community generation.

本届展映共设6部特邀影片，题材横跨民族志纪录、电子音乐实验、身体舞蹈实践与民间信仰影像档案，呈现出音乐影像创作在当下语境中的多样路径。今年的主题“遗产·回响·生生（Heritage · Resonance · Becoming）”贯穿整届展映。影像承载记忆，也在一次次重访与观看中生成当下的意义，这将是一场关于民族记忆、文化共鸣与共同体生成的深度实践。
